Art Advisory Services

Our thoughtful approach to art advisory puts your specific collecting goals at the centre of our practice. We work with private collectors, family offices, corporate clients, museums and institutions who value our methodical and transparent approach to art services: a relationship based on trust, research and rigorous collection management.

Core Focus

Strategy

We have a broad network from which to best source and place works for your art collection, in keeping with individual collecting needs. Contacts include primary and secondary market galleries, auction houses, artist estates and private collections.

Advisory

We strive to empower collectors to become experts in their field of interest by providing regular and ongoing research, education and performance reporting.

Wealth Planning

We advise on philanthropic, estate and tax planning issues relating to art, ensuring your collection is protected for years to come. Referrals are also provided to trusted associates in related industries for advice tailored to your collecting needs.

Appraisal Services

Hailey Widrig

As an appraiser specialising in 20th and 21st century art, Hailey is qualified to appraise works of art created since 1900 including paintings, photographs, prints, sculpture and works on paper. Through long standing relationships throughout the international art trade, Hailey has access to private sales information which can be a vital criteria for valuation. She possesses in-depth knowledge of the art market and the analytical skills required for thorough appraisal reports.

Comprehensive, written appraisal reports are offered in compliance with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP compliant through January 2026) and current IRS guidelines where applicable. Following an initial discussion to understand the scope of work, a tailored appraisal can be provided for a range of purposes, including:

  • Art Leasing or Rental

  • Damage or Loss

  • Donations

  • Estate Tax

  • Fractional Interest

  • Gift Tax

  • Insurance

  • Resale

As the basis for all appraisals, each item is extensively catalogued and clients receive an in-depth document with a photograph of each item, all relevant information, provenance, current art market context and bibliography. We work with leading authenticators and conservators where necessary to fully meet the needs of your appraisal in the case of uncertain authenticity or diminution of value through damage or loss of your artwork.

Building Collections

Our business culture is one of service towards our clients and their art collecting rather than one-off sales. Continuity of purpose, stability and alignment of interests strengthen our ability to focus on building and managing outstanding art collections for our clients. The development of an art collection is a bespoke process underpinned with research, dialogue, evaluation and curatorial consideration at every step.

Great collections are take time to develop and longterm continuity of management is a keystone of our business. Clients enjoy an ongoing dialogue as we oversee all aspects of governance while your art collection progresses through all stages of growth : from initial acquisition, holding and eventual transfer.

We work with a number of global leaders in concurrent fields to provide the best service for our clients, including art historians, architects, financial advisors and conservationists. Public engagement is also encouraged, through loans of artworks, museum patronage and supporting publications.

Art Investment

Providing professional guidance in an opaque market. As an independent advisory firm with no inventory, we provide impartial advice tailored to your needs and completely free of any conflict of interest, unlike dealers, auction houses or galleries.

Art-backed lending has become more common in recent years, as collectors seek to optimise their art collections and taxable assets. Likewise as art collectors and their financial advisors increasingly manage art assets, solutions such as rental leasebacks after a transfer of ownership may be an interesting solution to enjoying your collection while creating a beneficial ownership structure. We are happy to provide advice regarding this sector of the art market; for example:

  • Collectors wishing to lend against their artworks or secure financing for acquisitions

  • Financial services experts (for example private equity and investment management firms) wishing to learn more about this sector of the art market, future outlook and how they can best be involved

  • Appraisals to prepare rental rate calculations specific to the basket of artworks and their rental costs.
